A Thumpy Banjo is an instrument capable of inspiring a person (dancer, listener, player, or other party) to pat their feet, foot, or other part of their being in such a way as to create a thumping sound in the physical environment or within themselves.
A celebration of music, Thumpy Banjos are built to be played, shared, and enjoyed. These instruments make a fine companion for a summer festival or a rainy day around the house. Great for old-time, clawhammer, and various finger styles. Handcrafted in Virginia’s New River Valley.
Here are some recent builds. If there is a price listed next to the instrument that means that it may be available for immediate purchase. Please send me a note if you’re interested in a custom build.
